Sandgate Park and Fremantle Park

Sandgate Parish Council own and maintain two parks in the Parish, Sandgate Park on Military Road, Sandgate and Fremantle Park on Fremantle Road in the Golden Valley.

Sandgate Park facilities:

  • beautiful, sloping site;
  • children’s play areas;
  • children’s zip wire (please, only one child at a time);
  • 5-a-side football pitch;
  • hard tennis court;
  • basketball court;
  • picnic area including BBQ stands (please take all your litter home with you);
  • Petanque (boules) court;
  • fenced dog run (please keep dogs on leads in the rest of the park and away from the children’s play area);
  • small free (up to 90 minutes) car park for park users.

All facilities are free and there is no need to book – if they are available when you turn up, use them!

The tennis court, basketball court and 5-a-side football pitch MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) facilities were possible through a generous donation from the Roger de Haan Charitable Trust.

Sandgate Parish Council are actively investing in our parks. In July 2024 they agreed a £30,000 plus project to replace all (bar one, which doesn’t need it) of the soft play surfaces in the children’s play areas at Sandgate Park and Fremantle Park, which should be undertaken in Autumn 2024.

In the last two years Sandgate Parish Council has also supported the planting of orchard areas at each of the parks, a new wildflower bank at Sandgate Park (which isn’t yet all we hoped, we concede) alongside the maintenance to a high level of both parks.
